While the pandemic has changed lives, it has also altered the tastes and preferences of American consumers, triggering actions that could change the food industry next year.

“Businesses need to pay attention to trends in order to find new growth opportunities and their target audiences,” Graves said. “Understanding these trends helps companies stay one step ahead of upcoming changes, whether it’s regulatory or a new flavor profile. In most cases, consumers are driving trends and looking for products and companies that meet their needs and lifestyle.

1. Wanting well-being: The world may have been unpredictable and somewhat frightening for people during this year’s pandemic, but individuals have turned to food to improve their well-being, both physically and mentally. The next year will see a continued focus on foods that not only boost a body nutritionally, but are also deemed “better” for the environment. From green to organic to superfoods, consumers will be spending the next year looking for products that nourish both body and soul.

2. Perfect pantry: The 40s sparked a love for home cooking in people across the globe. The need to convert pantry items into drool-worthy meals has created a love for time spent in the kitchen, and it is expected that the New Year will see a continued desire to stay home rather than eat out. outside.
