Director of Educational Resources appointed

We are proud to welcome Jadarius “JD” Jackson to the Center for Teaching and Learning, as Director of Learning Resources, starting June 13th. Jackson brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as Director of Accessibility Resources at Western Carolina University. . He has also worked as a counsellor, disability access services counselor and educational counselor during his career at Guilford Technical Community College. Jackson has a doctorate. in Educational Studies with a concentration in Cultural Foundations from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds a Masters in Mental Health Clinical Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Jackson brings drive and a passion for supporting students across the ability spectrum to overcome barriers to success. Supporting students and colleagues, he has provided training on diversity, equity, inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and mental health and wellbeing to students, faculty, and staff. Jackson is committed to the values ​​of diversity and inclusiveness and brings to this role a clear and powerful vision for advancing UNCSA’s sense of belonging. Among his experiences in this field, he has served as a mentor for the Emerging Scholars program for black men, worked on the mental health task force at UNCA, conducted academic research focusing on the experiences of marginalized students. and underrepresented and worked collaboratively to make interventions more inclusive. , of celebrating, of welcoming and of generating the successes of all the groups. In his own words, he has “a personal and professional belief in standing up for students.”

We welcome JD to our community and look forward to the important work he will undertake alongside his colleagues on campus.
