During the Agri-Export / Buyer-Seller Meeting on Saturday in Mirzapur, UP, Patel said the Indian government has set an export target of $ 43 billion for agricultural products in 2021-2022, which will be achieved with the help of APEDA and the farmers’ association. contributions during the current financial year.

Notably, the significant increase in agricultural and processed food exports from the eastern part of the UP, Purvanchal, will help double farmers’ incomes and improve employment opportunities in the region.

In addition, Purvanchal will also promote substantial growth in India’s foreign exchange earnings, the minister said at the event hosted by the Processed Agriculture and Food Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The conference welcomed more than 700 farmers, including Dr M Angamuthu, President of APEDA, who discussed initiatives to increase exports from Purvanchal.

The event, organized by APEDA, honored the 75e year of Independence on the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

During the event, Purvanchal’s main exporters and agricultural producer organizations (OPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost exports of agricultural products from the region.

According to reliable reports, Patel and Angamuthu officiated export shipments of non-basmati rice and green peppers to China and the United Arab Emirates respectively.

APEDA was deployed by the Indian government in 1986 to oversee and regulate the export trade of the country’s agricultural products.


The umbrella body promotes industries invested in products scheduled for exports by providing financial support or facilitating investigations, introducing subsidy programs and other reliefs, and performs a range of functions including marketing, product packaging, etc.
