Large margin for exporting Vietnamese agricultural products to the United Kingdom | Business

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has great opportunities to export rice, fruits and other agricultural products to the United Kingdom, one of the 10 largest markets in the world with an annual turnover of food imports of 65 billion USD, heard a recent conference to promote Vietnamese agricultural products in the UK.

The event, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Kingdom on September 28 under the theme “Exploration of Tropical Specialties”, attracted the participation of representatives of the UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC), the Organization for South East Asia Trade Facilitation (SEATFO), UK companies and over 100 Vietnamese agricultural exporters.

Participants discussed the potential, requirements and standards of the UK market for imported agricultural products. They were also introduced to various Vietnamese agricultural products.

Speaking at the event, VietnamEU Ambassador to UK Nguyen Hoang Long said Vietnam-UK bilateral trade is expected to experience remarkable growth following the signing of the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA ) in December 2020.

He said that bilateral agriculture trade has great potential for development as Vietnam has an advantage in terms of agricultural products while UK is a big market for these types of products.

While advising Vietnamese exporters, the CEO of UKABCIan Gibbons said companies need to do extensive market research to make sure their products are suitable and competitive in the import market.

He also underlined the importance of building trust with UK partners by developing long term and lasting relationships.

Meanwhile, SEATFO Director John Gavin stressed the importance for companies to ensure their products meet market demands while providing good customer service and on-time delivery.

UK businesses also appreciate partners who champion environmental protection and participate in social activities, he added. /.
