Hanoi (VNA) – The recently approved National postal development strategy to 2025 with a 2030 vision targets 100% of farming households using e-commerce platforms to move their produce.

The postal and delivery industry, which owns and operates the platforms, is expected to reach an annual revenue of USD 10 billion by 2030, given the current growth rate of around 20-30% per year. .

The strategy sets the goal of making the postal industry a vital part of the country’s economy e-commerce infrastructure.

The Postal Service is positioning itself to ensure that all people across the country have the right to access and use regular and cost-effective universal mail delivery services.

The strategy aims to ensure that all households in the country have digital addresses by 2025. The completion of the digital address platform in accordance with the national digital map is important for the development of e-commerce and l ‘Digital Economy.

It also aims to mark and trace all products traded on Vietnamese postal e-commerce platforms, and ensure that all postal establishments provide online public services.

According to Duong Ton Bao of the Postal Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the postal industry has enormous resources with a network of more than 21,600 points reaching the municipal level. The network covers 63 provinces and cities as well as nearly 800 companies operating in the industry.

Postal infrastructure coupled with telecommunications infrastructure, electronic payment and digital address will promote the development of e-commerce and help expand the market for postal services, he said.

The postal industry will promote e-commerce in rural areas to accelerate the digital agricultural economy and enable residents to access public services.

“The digital revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic have changed the pattern of global economic growth. Vietnam’s postal industry sees it as an opportunity to become an essential infrastructure of the country as a digital economy that helps promote the development of digital government and digital society,” he said./.
