Opening of the exhibition on agricultural products and local honey at Souq Waqif


Doha: The exhibition on agricultural products and local honey, organized by the Department of Souq Waqif, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality, started today in Al Ahmad Square of Souq Waqif, from February 20 to 1 March.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Souq Waqif Director Mohammed Abdullah Al Salem said the event will serve the producer and consumer and provide an ideal marketing experience in a tourist attraction that brings together visitors from citizens and residents of different nationalities.

He noted that the prices for the supply of local Qatari vegetables and honey are competitive and suitable for all, under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipality, stressing that the exhibition comes in support of the Qatari product through a marketing platform for informing the public about the characteristics of Qatari farms of high-quality food products, it also introduces local honey-producing companies and offers traders, entrepreneurs and SMEs the opportunity to present their honey products to the public.

About 70 pavilions, representing numerous farms and apiaries, display local agricultural products, fresh fruit and honey.

Regarding the support provided by the Waqif Market Department to local farmers, Al Salem explained that the administration provides them with continuous support through such exhibitions and festivals to market their products in the souk squares.

The administration of Souq Waqif is keen to respect the precautionary measures being followed in the country to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Al Salem added.
